About

The New Sussex Symphony was founded in 1959. Concert repertoire extends over four centuries, from the early 1700s to contemporary music. In addition to the formal concert series, the symphony acts as a resource to the county's musical community. It encourages student musicians through a variety of collaborative efforts with local schools and youth orchestras. It stages outreach efforts that bring music to elderly populations unable to attend a formal concert. The New Sussex Symphony is dedicated to a simple proposition: to bring enjoyment to audiences of all ages through the performance of symphonic music of the masters of past centuries as well as composers of the present day. In doing so we seek to teach audiences both old and young (and, in between), who have either a well-developed familiarity with the music that we perform, or those who are hearing it for the very first time. We sincerely hope that all of you can take away from the concerts the joy and satisfaction that we, the orchestra experience in our performances.
