Come learn the basics of forging steel, drawing out and isolating mass, grinding, heat treatment, and creating your own hand forged blacksmithing tools. Projects will include forging basic hand tools, and the forging and assembly of a working pair of scrolling tongs. This course is open to total beginners, as well as those with forging experience who are new to tool making. Beginner to Intermediate

Anna Koplik attended Pratt Institute for a BFA in Jewelry and has taken classes at Peters Valley School of Craft and New England School of Metalwork. Anna has a passion for teaching blacksmithing and showing beginner smiths the many different possibilities blacksmithing has to offer. She has worked at Peters Valley as a blacksmithing assistant, at Atlas Forge as an apprentice, at Touchstone Center for Crafts as the blacksmithing technician, and at Spirit Ironworks, Inc. as a blacksmith and fabricator. Anna also completed a blacksmithing residency at Touchstone where she focused on tool and utensil making, and combining functionality with a refined, delicate aesthetic.
