Have you always wanted to use specialty cut stones in your jewelry? Have you wanted to bezel set specialty cut stones? Perhaps you have wanted to use channel setting in your jewelry. Join expert diamond setter Paul Nielsen as he instructs this intermediate class on how to set specialty cut gemestones. You will learn the proper tools and techniques on how to use prongs, bezels and channel settings to raise your stone setting skill level and apply these advanced techniques to your designs. The models will include pear shape, emerald cut, marquise cut and princess cut stones. All models will use cubic zirconia and will be in sterling silver. Demonstrations will be shown via magnification and projected on to a monitor. This is an intermediate class with basic stone setting skills required. Intermediate.

Paul Nielson is a custom jewelry designer, manufacturer and expert diamon setter from Lower Providence, PA with 30 years of professional experience in the jewelry industry. He holds a BFA in Metalsmithing from Tyler School of Art at Temple University and perfected his stone setting skills on historic Jeweler's Row in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. He is known throughout many jewelry circles as Pave' Paul for his expertise in pave' diamon setting. Paul has taught jewelry, metalsmithing, 3D design and sculpture at various universities and is currently an independent jewelry designer, manfacturer and owner at Pave' Paul, LLC. His current work is focusing on jewelry as a sculptural form involving setting precious stones and unusual materials in precious and alternative metals such as bronze, steel and aluminum. www.pavepaul.com
