Come explore the fundamentals of forging in a fun environment. We will begin by lighting a coal fire and go over the basic techniques of forging iron. You will gain an understanding of the tools in the shop, how to use them and a greater appreciation for how things are made. Everyone will get to explore their creativity and walk away with some forged pieces. Beginner and Beyond

Since 2004 Andy Upright has been making custom window grills, gates, railings, and sculptural ironwork in and around Philadelphia. He studied with and alongside other metals artists at John C. Campbell, Tunnel Mill Crafts and other schools. He has taught workshops at Peters Valley and assisted at Penland School of Crafts. He has exhibited work at The Satellite Coffee Shop, Gush Gallery and The Sculpture Gym.
