About

Using a variety of materials, including red and yellow cedar bark, brown ask splint, birch bark, colored waxed linen thread, colored and copper wire, beads, yarn, sweetgrass, and other fun materials, you will make two wearable pouches over molds, to hold your cell phones and other necessary items. Using your creative instincts, no two will be the same. You can make them to use as a necklace, a shoulder bag or a crossover carrier. Carry straps may be chosen from a braided waxed linen or poly cord. Pamela will teach twining, over under weave, and twills. Participants should be able to finish two pouches over the weekend. Beginner and Beyond

Please Note:The Dining Hall is closed for the season so participants are responsible for their own meals. Kitchens are available in the dorms for those staying on campus.

Pamela Wilson loves all styles of basket making and finds great satisfaction in creating beautiful works, and in sharing her love of basket making with other weavers. She has taught extensively at her local adult education school and for a number of basketry guilds including Central Pennsylvania Basket Weavers Guild, Deer Creek Basket Guild, High Country Guild, Penn-Jersey Basket Weavers Guild, and Tidewater Basketry Guild. She also teaches at Peter's Valley and the Country Seat, a basketry supply store. She is a long time member of the National Basketry Organization and Central PA Basket Weavers Guild. She holds a BFA from the University of Oklahoma and a MFA from Florida State University.
